(College Student Healthcare Internship Program)

College Student Health Internship Program (CSHIP) is a structured, part-time, non-clinical health careers internship program where students are given the opportunity to complete a specific project on behalf of a community health organization. CSHIP is designed for students enrolled in a postsecondary degree or certificate program with interest in pursuing a career in any health-related field. Students receive a $1500 stipend for participation in this project.
This project experience provides:
- Vermont students with a unique chance to explore healthcare in action while developing their career competencies,
- Healthcare organizations with the opportunity to expand their capacity for health improvement projects, and
- Communities with greater means to address priority health needs.
Project timeframe: June– August. Exact start and end date will vary by project. Multiple projects for different community health organizations are available!
Project length: 100 flexible hours, which includes didactic and field experience.
Project locations vary and may be in-person, remote, or hybrid, depending on the project and needs of the host site. Applicants will be asked to indicate their preference and availability. Interns must be residing in Vermont while completing the internship.
Eligibility: Graduate of a Vermont high school and/or currently enrolled in a Vermont college, university, or post-secondary institution, and have demonstrated strong interest in rural health. Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
CSHIP aims to serve students underrepresented in healthcare and in higher education including individuals from rural areas, those from an economically or educationally disadvantaged background; and/or individuals with a demonstrated an interest in issues affecting underserved populations.
