Across Vermont, the demand for EMS services has surged, while the number of EMS providers has steadily declined. Workforce development has been identified as one of the greatest challenges in stabilizing the state’s EMS services. By offering this innovative EMT course, Northern Vermont AHEC is directly addressing this challenge, preparing the next generation of responders to meet the growing needs of their communities.

Program Highlights:
The course blends the convenience of online learning with immersive hands-on training, ensuring students are both confident and competent in high-stakes situations. Starting March 24, 2025, participants will embark on a journey that combines rigorous education with real-world application.
- Interactive Live Zoom Sessions: Engage with experienced instructors every Monday evening (5:30 PM–8:30 PM)
- Skill-Building Labs: Master critical techniques during in-person clinical training days at the Green Mountain Technology and Career Center in Hyde
- Comprehensive Curriculum: Learn to assess and manage medical and trauma emergencies, understand anatomy and physiology, and prepare for real-world EMS operations.
- Included in Tuition: Required text and materials are provided and included in the program cost.

- Cost: $1,400
- Dates: March 24, 2025, through July 20, 2025.
- Format: Hybrid (online and in-person).
- In-Person Location: Green Mountain Technology and Career Center, Hyde Park, VT.
About Your Instructor
Kevin Adams brings a wealth of experience and a passion for emergency medical services (EMS) education to the classroom. A 2018 graduate of Saint Michael’s College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Kevin began his EMS journey as a member of Saint Michael’s Fire and Rescue (SMFR); a student-run organization, and one of the busiest volunteer EMS services in Vermont. Kevin obtained his Advanced EMT license, CPR instructor certification, served as the department’s 1st Lieutenant and volunteered over 9,000 hours of duty at SMFR. Since then, Kevin has held a wide range of clinical positions on EMS services such as Colchester Rescue as well as in office settings. Outside of providing patient care, Kevin’s passion is teaching. He has held teaching positions at UVM’s Initiative for Rural Emergency Medical Services and at Northeastern Training Solutions as their Manager of EMS programs. Currently, Kevin upholds his Instructor Coordinator license to continue teaching EMT classes for the state of Vermont and is educating with Northern Vermont Area Health Education Center. Through this work, Kevin has brought his immersive teaching style and passion for education as well as first aid training and certifications to students all across Vermont.
