Nicole LaPointe

Executive Director

Nicole has been with the Northern Vermont AHEC since 2009.  She began work in the field of public health in 2000 as a community organizer to improve access to health and human services for the uninsured. She received a Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2001 from the University of New Hampshire and holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of Vermont. Nicole is committed to helping to meet the health workforce demand in rural and underserved communities in Vermont and to diversifying the health workforce. Her research interests include measuring the impacts of youth mentoring on career decision-making and understanding the relationship of social and emotional learning to health professional competencies. She lives in West Burke with her husband and son.

Mary E. Fleck

Business Manager

Mary joined the AHEC staff in 1998, following 10 years as practice manager for Newport Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.  At Northern Vermont AHEC, Mary manages the day-to-day operations including finances, facilities, information systems and publication & design. Mary resides in Barton and moonlights as a professional vocalist and lyricist, performing with local choirs and the musical comedy group, Wing-it.

Lanie Billings

Health Careers Program Manager

Lanie joined the AHEC staff in July of 2021 after completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Vermont, where she received her Bachelor’s in Health Sciences and minored in Behavior Change Health Studies. Lanie also spent much of her college career volunteering on the University’s collegiate ambulance department, UVM Rescue, serving as an Advanced-EMT Crew Chief and Director of Operations. Lanie currently resides in South Burlington and continues to enjoy providing prehospital care, health education and being in the learning environment along side her students.

Kevin Adams

Health Careers Coordinator

Kevin joined the AHEC staff in June of 2022 after holding a range of positions in medical and educational settings. Kevin received his Bachelor of Psychology with a minor in Classics from Saint Michael’s College in 2018 and logged over 9,000 volunteer hours in his career with Saint Michael’s Fire and Rescue. Kevin is an Advanced EMT, acted as a crew chief, and served as the department’s training officer during his time at the college. Along with his work in emergency response, Kevin’s passion is medical education. He has held teaching positions at UVM’s emergency education program, IREMS, is a Vermont State Instructor Coordinator, and is also currently educating prospective EMTs in his role as the Assistant Manager of EMS programs for Northeastern Emergency Training Solutions. Kevin resides in South Burlington where he likes to spend his free time being creative with writing, music, and art.

Tracy Truzansky

Education and Training Director

Tracy has been in the field of STEM education for over 40 years. Her master’s degree from Indiana University launched her career in therapeutic treatment for individuals with special needs through outdoor education. The last 20 years have allowed her to expand her skill set to professional development, coaching, and program design with an emphasis on experiential learning. In 2016 she joined NVTAHEC as a collaborator for the middle school health career exploration program, MedTrek. Until recently, Tracy maintained a professional relationship with NVTAHEC through her STEM consulting business, but is now on staff full time working to design experiences that elevate rural Vermonter’s eligibility to become key members of the healthcare workforce in rural Vermont. Tracy lives with her family in Burlington.

 

Jenny Mayor

Data Specialist

Jenny came to AHEC in April 2014 and enjoys managing data on programs, participants, providers, and anything else that comes her way. In the past she has worked as a special education paraprofessional, home companion, harpist, and pet-sitter. Currently Jenny lives in Barton and is a church organist.

Stacy Davis

Communications Coordinator

Stacy began working for Northern Vermont AHEC in the fall of 2018. She manages NVTAHEC’s social media accounts, websites and is the photographer/videographer for the organization’s programs. Stacy lives in Sutton with her husband and her children.
