Northern Vermont AHEC is seeking an experienced, creative, and innovative communications professional who is interested in joining a talented team of educators and health professionals. Northern Vermont AHEC (nvtahec.org) is a health workforce development nonprofit with a mission to educate and inspire students and professionals to improve the health of Vermont communities.
The Communications and Public Relations Manager will be responsible for communicating the impact of our organization and its programs to our stakeholders and constituents. This is a non-exempt, part-time position that has the potential to grow to a full-time position within a year of hire. The Communications and Public Relations Manager reports directly to the Executive Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and implement communication strategies (1) to raise awareness of our organization’s mission and impact and (2) to meet goals for participant recruitment, constituent engagement, partnership development, and stakeholder investment.
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day activities related to the organization’s web and social media platforms, ensuring that all communications are on-brand and consistent.
- Develop relationships with local and regional media outlets and partner organizations to amplify the reach of stories and messages.
- Analyze audiences and messages to identify the most appropriate channels for communication and opportunities for growth.
- Coordinate with colleagues and partners to create new, engaging content for focal audiences that educates and inspires.
Qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience writing press releases, pitching stories to the media, and managing social media accounts.
- Research skills essential for producing credible and accurate communications.
- Familiarity with WordPress for website content management.
- Expertise in social media communication across various platforms.
- Creative and artistic vision and direction.
- Attention to detail, to ensure error-free content.
- Collaboration skills and the ability to find common ground for mutually beneficial messaging and co-branding across organizations and among partners.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a communications-related field preferred.
Location, Hours, and Compensation
This is a 20-hour per week, non-exempt position. Work setting can be structured as a hybrid of in-person as-needed and remote work with flexible scheduling based on the requirements of the position. Compensation is $25 to $28 per hour, commensurate with experience. Information about fringe benefits is available on request.
